Over the 35+ year existence of Cullasaja Club, the Membership is known for being informal and friendly with a remarkable culture of caring and openness with an absence of egos, cliques, and politics. If you are a new Member, you will discover Cullasaja Club is a very special place, and the Members guard this culture from outside influences that could negatively affect it. It is why you see others waving at you while driving in the community. It is why you receive meals while you are sick or in need. It is why you feel a warmth and camaraderie unlike any other place. Club Members greet each other at every opportunity, even though they may not have been introduced, and they are part of a large family who treat one another and the staff with reverence and concern.
Our Members recognize that many have had illustrious careers with some holding important positions, and we admire success in its many forms. However, Members pledge to leave their egos and accomplishments outside the entrance gate so that we treat each other as equals within the community.
Our Members know that each of us may have a different point of view from others on political, social, religious, and other important matters. We respect those different perspectives and honor them. However, we encourage you to avoid heated discussions reflecting political, social, religious, or other views or opinions that may be divisive or bring disharmony to the social fabric of the Club or demonstrate a disrespect for the views of others.
Our Members understand the Club can only operate to our expected standards if we treat all our employees with respect and politeness. Some of them come from faraway places, and they will need our support so that their confidence grows and enables them to operate at the high level we all expect. They also are part of our family.
Our Members want new Members to fully assimilate into the existing Club culture and feel it is important that that the new Members become familiar with the decorum, deportment, expectations, and rules that are in place for the enjoyment of all Members. Over the years, we have discovered that if new Members do not embrace and support the existing culture, they will be ostracized and generally end up resigning and moving on. Luckily, this rarely happens, and our newer Members acclimate to the Club just fine.
